The best hotels in San Antonio in 2026 sit on the River Walk, in the Pearl District, and within a short ride of King William. The River Walk puts the Alamo and dinner on the water in one walk, and it asks you to choose a quieter room if sleep matters. The Pearl District puts Hotel Emma and the Museum Reach first, and it asks you to ride when the Alamo is the morning. King William is the historic house district south of downtown. None of these picks sleep on a King William side street. Kimpton Santo, on South Alamo, is the closest base for that evening. The Hill Country resort at La Cantera is a car stay, not a river stroll. Choose the neighborhood first. Then open the official hotel site for the pick that fits. For the other Texas city on this site, compare best luxury hotels in Austin.

Best luxury neighborhoods for a splurge
River Walk
The downtown River Walk is the walkable luxury core when the trip is the Alamo, a boat, and one intentional night of restaurants on the water. It is a weak place to assume Pearl quiet, and it is a weak place to assume a King William porch is the same block. Boats, patios, and festival barges stack on the bend. An ordinary Tuesday is a different river from Fiesta week or a holiday parade night. Ask for a courtyard, a higher floor, or a room off the water if you came for the walk and not for the soundtrack. We do not invent a noise score. Visit San Antonio is the wide visitor map. The hotel pages below are the sleep decision.
Mokara Hotel & Spa, at 212 West Crockett Street, is the spa hotel in this set. The hotel's page calls itself the only Forbes Four Star hotel in San Antonio, and it calls Mokara Spa the city's only Forbes Four Star spa. That is the hotel's claim. We do not audit awards, and we do not copy a star onto the card below. The same page describes a 17,000 square foot spa with a dry cedar sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, and a whirlpool, plus a heated rooftop pool open year round from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Ostra is the riverfront restaurant. Four Brothers is the other full service dining room. On site event space is 4,500 square feet, which is a wedding or a small meeting, not a citywide convention. Check in is 4 p.m. Check out is 11 a.m. Valet is the only parking: $55 overnight and $35 for the day. The garage height limit is 6 feet 8 inches. The page says electric vehicle charging is complimentary and subject to availability. Pets are allowed up to 50 pounds, limit two, with a cleaning fee of $125 per stay per room. The hotel describes San Antonio International Airport as about 9 miles and about 20 minutes away, and it lists a taxi at about $23 one way. Those figures are the page's planning notes, not a promise for your arrival hour. A river view is the reason many people choose Mokara. It is also the reason to ask for a quieter room if sleep matters more than the boats.
Hotel Contessa, at 306 West Market Street, is the all suite hotel on the river. The amenities page says every one of the 265 suites has a separate living area and a sleeping area, and the hotel calls itself the only all suite AAA Four Diamond hotel on the River Walk. That diamond line is the hotel's claim. The same page lists 10,000 square feet of meeting space, the Spa at Hotel Contessa, Ambler Texas Kitchen and Cocktails, a rooftop pool kept at 85 degrees year round, a climate controlled hot tub, and a 24 hour fitness center. Valet is $53 plus tax with in and out privileges. Day parking is $25 plus tax. The garage does not take oversized vehicles, dual rear wheel trucks, toppers, or trailers. Dogs are allowed, not cats, at $125 per stay per dog, with a 40 pound limit, and only on set floors and selected room types. The hotel is cashless. Cards work at the desk, at Ambler, and at the spa. Cash does not. A daily destination fee applies and, the FAQ says, includes wireless internet, the fitness center, the rooftop pool, and business services. That answer does not print a dollar amount, so read the total on the page you book. We do not invent it. Two hundred sixty five suites is a larger river house than Hotel Emma and a smaller one than a convention hotel. A Fiesta week can still sell the river view suite you wanted. Ask which suites face the water and which face the city if the parade is the outing and not the bedroom.
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, at 150 East Houston Street, is the design hotel on this bend. The rooms page describes 213 rooms and suites. The hotel says it is less than a two minute walk to the River Walk, or a direct ride down from the lobby elevators. The building keeps a 19th century Houston Street facade. Naranja is the tequila and mezcal bar. Dorrego's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and breakfast is not included in the room. There is no swimming pool. That is a useful fork against Mokara and Contessa, both of which describe rooftop water. Check in is 4 p.m. Check out is noon. You must be 21 to check in. Overnight guests get wireless internet. A state cost recovery fee of $4.75 per room per night and a destination fee of $22 per room per night sit on top of the rate. The hotel says the destination fee includes a welcome margarita or flavored water, in room coffee, internet, the fitness center, and concierge. Pets are allowed in designated rooms. The FAQ says a pet fee and a waiver are required and does not print the fee, so call the hotel at the number on its contact page rather than assuming Contessa's dog number applies here. Smoking in a room draws a cleaning fee the page does not price. The rooms page also sells a Holiday River Parade package with parade tickets and valet, which tells you a lighted December night is a real inventory event. We do not publish the next parade date. Ask the hotel, then decide whether a river balcony is the bedroom you wanted.
Omni La Mansión del Rio, at 112 College Street, is the historic hacienda on the same river. The hotel describes Spanish colonial architecture, a courtyard pool that is heated, and access to Mokara Spa next door rather than a second spa of its own. Event space is over 18,000 square feet, larger than Mokara's meeting rooms and still not the convention center. The accommodations page introduces 338 hotel rooms and, in the FAQ on that same page, answers that the hotel has 332 rooms. Both figures are the hotel's. Confirm the count on the live page before you treat either number as the inventory that will be left on a festival Saturday. Check in is 4 p.m. Check out is noon. You must be 18 to book, with a photo ID. Overnight valet is $55 and daily parking is $39, with the same 6 feet 8 inch garage limit Mokara names, and complimentary electric vehicle charging subject to availability. Pets under 50 pounds are welcome, up to two, with a one time fee of $125 per reservation. The hotel describes the airport as about 9 miles and about 15 minutes away. Mokara, a short walk away, describes about 20 minutes for a similar distance. Use both as the hotels' notes, not as a traffic promise. A courtyard room here is the quieter cousin of a balcony over the boats. Ask which one you are buying. The Alamo and Market Square are walks the hotel names. King William is not.
Pearl District and the Museum Reach
The Pearl District is the culinary luxury core north of downtown, on the Museum Reach of the river, when the trip is dinner, a market morning, and a calmer night than the downtown bend. Visit San Antonio sends visitors to that northern reach and says the City Brewery was founded on the Pearl grounds in 1881. By 1916, the same page says, it was the largest brewery in Texas, and under Emma Koehler it was the only brewery in San Antonio to survive prohibition. The guide also says Hotel Emma was once a 19th century brewhouse. It is a weak place to assume the Alamo is downstairs. Hotel Emma, at 136 East Grayson Street, is the only Noravelle pick with a Pearl address. The homepage describes 146 rooms in the former brewhouse and calls the hotel an AAA Five Diamond hotel and the only Michelin Two Key hotel in San Antonio. Those lines are the hotel's claim. We do not audit them, and they are not a ranking on this page. Supper is the bistro. Larder is the market. Sternewirth is the bar. The site lists Hiatus as the spa. The hotel's Pearl page says the building sits on the Museum Reach, a little more than a mile from the source of the river, with Pearl Plaza on the other side and a farmers market the neighborhood runs. That is a northern downtown base. The Alamo is a ride or a long walk, not the two minute elevator Hotel Valencia describes.
Hotel Emma's policy page is unusually specific, which is why the fees belong in the decision and not in a footnote. Check in is 3 p.m. Check out is noon. You must be 21 to book and to check in. A standard cancellation within 72 hours of arrival is charged the first night. An early departure is charged one night of room and tax. Advance purchase rates are not refundable if you miss the one day window after booking. Third party reservations have to be changed where you made them. Overnight valet is $50 plus tax. Day valet for visitors is $25. Valet for Supper can be complimentary with validation, and that validation does not apply at Sternewirth. Valet does not take vehicles over 6 feet 8 inches. Electric vehicle charging comes with valet and is based on availability. Self parking is in Pearl lots, and the page says fees apply without printing the number, so read it before you compare Emma's valet with a River Walk garage. Dogs require a pet form and a cleaning fee of $250 plus tax. The hotel is cashless, with an ATM in the lobby. A Historic Pearl Preservation Charge of 3.65 percent applies to rooms, dining, and retail, and the hotel says it supports the campus. One hundred forty six rooms means a culinary weekend or a wedding can sell the useful suite while a 200 room river hotel still shows inventory. Ask for a room off the liveliest courtyard if the brewhouse social life is the reason you came and the bedroom is not.
King William
King William is the historic house district south of downtown, with porches, gardens, and the King William Fair as its loud civic day. The City of San Antonio places the National Register district generally between the San Antonio River, Cesar Chavez Boulevard, South St. Mary's Street, and South Alamo Street. The city says the local district also takes in the South Alamo Street and South St. Mary's Street historic district west of South Alamo. That boundary is a walking map, not a hotel address on this page. None of the Noravelle picks use a King William side street. That is a gap in staffed luxury hotels, not a hidden mansion we left off the page. The Visit San Antonio Fiesta release of 30 January 2026 placed the King William Fair on 25 April 2026, during a festival that ran from 16 April through 26 April. Those dates have passed. The fair is the reason the neighborhood fills, and it is not a reason to invent a luxury hotel on Madison Street. Sleep at Kimpton Santo if you want the shortest walk south. Sleep at Omni La Mansión del Rio or Hotel Contessa if you want the river and one planned evening in the district. Do not book a River Walk balcony and expect to stroll home through King William after midnight without a ride. Furnished houses operate in the neighborhood. They are a different product from Hotel Emma or Mokara, and they are not Noravelle picks.
Southtown and Blue Star
Southtown is the gallery and dinner map south of La Villita, with the Blue Star arts complex as one evening people plan on purpose. None of these picks sleep inside a Blue Star warehouse. Kimpton Santo's own location list names Southtown, the King William Historic District, and Blue Star as places to go, which is the right reading. The hotel is the base. The arts complex is the outing. A Pearl hotel makes Blue Star a planned ride at the end of the night. A La Cantera resort makes it a cross town plan you should not stack onto an arrival evening. Use Southtown when one gallery night is the point. Do not use it as a substitute address for a boutique that is not on this list. If every smaller room on the river is gone for Fiesta, the larger river hotels and the Hill Country resort are the inventory, not a reason to invent a luxury inn on South Alamo beyond the one we name.
Downtown, Travis Park, and the Alamo
The St. Anthony, a Luxury Collection Hotel, at 300 East Travis Street, is the historic landmark hotel in this set. The hotel's own domain, thestanthonyhotel.com, redirects to that Marriott page. The rooms page describes suites of about 924 to 1,200 square feet with separate living and dining areas, and it names a John Wayne Suite. We do not publish a total room count, because the live Marriott pages we could read did not state one we are willing to freeze. The dining page lists Esencia, Anacacho Coffee and Cantina, Gallery on the Park, and the St. Anthony Club, and it says dining guests at those rooms get complimentary valet at 300 East Travis Street. That dining note is not the overnight rate. The Marriott overview read on 24 Oct 2026 lists self parking at $60 a day and valet at $65 a day. Check in is 4 p.m. Check out is 11 a.m. You must be 21 to check in. Dogs of 40 pounds or less are accepted, up to two, with a $125 fee that is not refunded. The hotel does not provide an airport shuttle, and it places San Antonio International Airport about 8.5 miles away. Read the total on the page you book. The experiences page says the hotel has an outdoor pool and a fitness center, and it places the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, the River Walk, the Alamo, and the Majestic Theatre nearby. Travis Park is the front yard. Visit San Antonio said Fiesta 2026 opened in that park on 16 April with a free public festival. A park event is a reason to ask for a higher floor, not a reason to skip the hotel if the grand rooms are the point. You can walk to the river. You should not pretend 300 East Travis is the middle of the Pearl brewhouse or a King William porch.
The Alamo compound is a short walk from the River Walk picks and from The St. Anthony. The Emily Morgan, a DoubleTree by Hilton at 705 East Houston Street, sits beside it. The hotel's site calls itself the official hotel of the Alamo and describes a 1920s building a short stroll from La Villita and about three blocks from the River Walk. It is open. It is also a DoubleTree, which is a different product from Mokara, Hotel Emma, or The St. Anthony, so it is not a Noravelle luxury pick. Use it only if the Alamo door is the whole trip and you have compared it, on its own site, with a river hotel whose fees you already understand. Do not let an old "haunted hotel" listing decide the stay. We do not repeat ghost stories, and we do not invent a room count. The convention center is the other downtown gravity. A citywide meeting fills the blocks The St. Anthony already told you are close. Ask whether a ballroom night is in house before you treat a park view as quiet.
La Villita and Hemisfair
Kimpton Santo San Antonio Riverwalk, at 431 South Alamo Street, is the lifestyle hotel between downtown and Southtown. The live site describes a new building joined to a restored 19th century schoolhouse, historic suites, an outdoor pool, Dean's Steak and Seafood, The Study, and Tenfold as the rooftop. Its location pages point at La Villita, Hemisfair Park, the River Walk, Southtown, King William, and Blue Star. White Lodging's opening announcement of 29 August 2024 described 347 guest rooms, including 16 suites, and more than 13,000 square feet of event space. That count is the operator's opening note. Confirm it on the live site if your trip depends on how fast the house sells out. The hotel's own site is the booking path, and reservations also route through IHG, which is the brand system rather than a third party agency. We do not publish a current valet rate, because the pages we read did not print one we are willing to freeze. Read the total before you compare Santo with Contessa's $53. Four hundred thirty one South Alamo is close enough to walk to La Villita, Hemisfair, and the southern end of the river, and far enough from Hotel Emma that a rainy night is a ride you notice. This is not a 146 room brewhouse, and it is not The St. Anthony. That is why it is on the list. Ask which rooms face the busier side of South Alamo if the rooftop is the outing and not the bedroom.
North River Walk and the Arts District
Thompson San Antonio, at 115 Lexington Avenue, is the North River Walk lifestyle hotel near the Tobin Center. The hotel's own domain, thompsonsanantoniohotel.com, redirects to that Hyatt page. Hyatt's February 2021 opening release described a 20 story, 162 room hotel on the river, with a spa, a pool deck, and restaurants including Landrace and The Moon's Daughters. A 13 October 2026 announcement from Sunrise Realty Trust said the lender had sold the hotel to The Loren Group and that the buyer intends further investment in the guest experience. The announcement still described 162 rooms at 115 Lexington Avenue, a rooftop restaurant, a spa, a gym, and conference space. We did not find a closure notice. Ownership changed. That is not the same sentence as "the hotel is dark." Ask the hotel whether work will affect your dates, the rooftop, or the restaurant before you pay. Do not use a 2021 opening rate as tonight's price. We do not publish one. The Tobin Center and the north river are the reason to stay here. The densest restaurant bend is a walk, not the lobby. Hotel Havana, farther along Navarro Street, is not an alternate if Thompson is full. See the names section below.
Hill Country edge
Signia by Hilton La Cantera Resort & Spa is the resort pick, on the northwest edge of the city where the Hill Country starts. Hilton's 1 October 2025 opening release said the former La Cantera Resort and Spa had converted to Signia by Hilton, the brand's first hotel in Texas, after a renovation of more than $40 million. The release describes 496 guest rooms, including 34 villas, on 550 acres, with nine dining venues, five pools, a children's camp, Loma de Vida Spa and Wellness, and the La Cantera golf course. The spa figure in that release is 25,000 square feet. Meeting space is over 131,000 square feet, which is a different product from Mokara's 4,500. The release places the resort 15 miles from San Antonio International Airport and says a complimentary shuttle runs to The Shops at La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. That shuttle language is from the opening release. Confirm on the live Hilton page that the shuttle, the hours, and any parking fee still match before you treat them as included. lacanteraresort.com redirects to the Hilton page, so book there, not on a retired brand site. This is the right splurge when golf, pools, a large spa, or the theme park set the day. It is the wrong splurge if you wanted to walk to the Alamo after dinner. A car, or the shuttle the release describes for the shops and the park, is the plan. Downtown is a separate trip.
Monte Vista, Brackenridge, and Alamo Heights
Monte Vista, Brackenridge Park, and Alamo Heights are real parts of a San Antonio week, and none of them are where these hotels sleep. Monte Vista is a residential neighborhood north of downtown, between the Pearl and the older northern streets. Brackenridge Park and the zoo are a morning, not a lobby. Alamo Heights is a dining and neighborhood outing farther north, a ride from the river and a different ride from La Cantera. Sleep at Hotel Emma if you want the closest luxury base to the park side of the city. Sleep on the River Walk if the Alamo is the day and Brackenridge is one outing. Sleep at La Cantera only if the resort is the point and the park is optional. We do not publish a live drive time from Grayson Street to Alamo Heights. If the trip is mostly those neighborhoods, say so when you choose, and still plan the return. A River Walk valet garage is a poor tool for a day of northern errands unless you have already read the in and out rule on that hotel's site.
Near SAT
Full service hotels beside San Antonio International Airport suit a dawn departure or a late landing. They are logistics for the flight, separate from a River Walk, Pearl, South Alamo, or La Cantera splurge. None of the Noravelle picks sleep in an airport corridor. The airport rideshare page says approved services meet passengers on the outer commercial curbside, lower level of Terminal A. The approved names on that page are Uber, Lyft, Turo, Wingz, and Wridz. The public transportation page says VIA route 5 boards at the far west end of Terminal B on the lower roadway, across the marked crosswalk, and can reach downtown in about 30 minutes for $1.30. Frequency varies by day and weekend. The same page points to VIA's VIVA routes once you are downtown and says schedules and fares can change. There is no train into the city. Mokara's taxi figure of about $23 one way is the hotel's note, not a meter we watched. Signia by Hilton La Cantera is 15 miles from the airport in the Hilton release, which is a resort ride, not an airport hotel. Use an airport hotel only when the flight sets the night, then move to the neighborhood that fits the rest of the trip.
How to choose
Pick the job of the trip before you compare suite photos. A spa and rooftop weekend on the water wants Mokara. An all suite river stay, including a longer or family trip that still wants downtown, wants Hotel Contessa. A design hotel with a courtyard and no pool wants Hotel Valencia. A historic hacienda with a courtyard pool and the spa next door wants Omni La Mansión del Rio. A Pearl culinary weekend wants Hotel Emma. A grand downtown hotel on Travis Park wants The St. Anthony. A La Villita and Southtown base wants Kimpton Santo. A North River Walk lifestyle hotel wants Thompson San Antonio, after you ask about the ownership change. A Hill Country resort with golf and a theme park shuttle wants Signia by Hilton La Cantera. King William, Southtown side streets, Blue Star, Monte Vista, Brackenridge, Alamo Heights, and the airport are outings or flight nights. They are not missing luxury hotels on this page. The Emily Morgan is a real DoubleTree beside the Alamo and still not this list.
Smaller hotels sell out first. Hotel Emma describes 146 rooms. Thompson's October 2026 sale note still described 162. Hotel Valencia describes 213 rooms and suites. Hotel Contessa describes 265 suites. Omni La Mansión del Rio's page says both 338 and 332. White Lodging described 347 at Kimpton Santo when it opened. Hilton described 496 at La Cantera, including 34 villas. A larger hotel can still show rooms when a Pearl suite is gone. The table is an editorial fit guide, not a ranking and not a price list. We do not invent nightly rates. Open the official site named in the last column before you pay. Read how we pick luxury hotels if you want the rules behind that short list, and how pricing works for why the compare buttons on this page stay closed.
Who each area suits
Use this as a shortlist, then read the neighborhood essay above for the tradeoff. King William side streets, Blue Star, Monte Vista, Brackenridge, Alamo Heights, and the airport are real places. They are not where these hotels sleep. La Cantera is a different night, on the Hill Country edge. The Emily Morgan is an Alamo door hotel in a different brand tier.

Timing, seasonality, and event weekends
Fiesta is the inventory shock with a map attached. The Fiesta San Antonio Commission said the 2026 dates were 16 April through 26 April. Visit San Antonio's 30 January 2026 release placed the opening festival in Travis Park on 16 April, the Texas Cavaliers River Parade on 20 April, and the King William Fair on 25 April. As of 14 October 2026 those days have passed. The pattern is a mid to late April citywide party, and the next calendar can still move. Confirm it on the commission site before you hold a prepaid rate for "the usual week." River hotels feel it first. Hotel Emma, north of the bend, is not immune, because the whole city travels. A 146 room Pearl hotel can disappear while La Cantera, which Hilton described as 496 rooms, still shows inventory. That is a reason to decide the neighborhood early, not a reason to take a rate you cannot cancel if the parade moves.
The holiday river is the December version of the same problem. Hotel Valencia's rooms page sells a Holiday River Parade package with tickets and valet. Mokara's own FAQ points travelers toward November through April for milder weather and mentions holiday happenings on the River Walk. We do not publish a parade date, a lighting time, or a ticket price. If the lighted boats are the reason for the trip, ask the hotel whether your balcony is on the route, then read the cancellation window. Thanksgiving week and Christmas week fill smaller hotels for family trips even when no parade is on your street. Flight timing for those weeks is on Thanksgiving 2026 and Christmas travel 2026. The later school window is on spring break 2027, which already treats San Antonio as one of the luxury cities on this site. All three sit on the holiday and event travel hub.
The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is the downtown meeting campus. The St. Anthony names it as nearby. A citywide show tightens Crockett, Market, Houston, College, and Travis at the same time. Kimpton Santo's opening materials also placed the convention center within a walk. Pearl is the relief valve if you can accept the ride to the show. La Cantera is the relief valve if the meeting is not the point. We do not publish a convention calendar. Ask the hotel if a ballroom is in house on your dates. Summers are hot. A rooftop pool at Mokara or Contessa, the courtyard pool at La Mansión, or the five pools Hilton described at La Cantera are practical in July and August, not a postcard extra. Hotel Valencia has no pool, so a July stay there is a different product. Plan shade, water, and a lighter first afternoon between the river and King William. If heat already limits your day, ask your own clinician before a long outdoor walk. We do not publish a forecast.
Noise, boats, and rooftops
The River Walk is lively because the water is the product. Patios, barges, and music stack under the balconies at Mokara, Contessa, Valencia, and La Mansión. Fiesta and a holiday parade turn that into a civic night. Pearl is usually the calmer sleep, and Hotel Emma is still a social hotel: Supper, Sternewirth, and the brewhouse lobby are the appeal. Thompson sits north of the densest bend, near the Tobin Center, so a performance night is a different sound from a restaurant patio. The St. Anthony faces Travis Park, which is quiet on an ordinary Monday and not quiet when Fiesta opens there. Kimpton Santo has a rooftop and a South Alamo address. Both are the appeal. Signia by Hilton La Cantera has pools and restaurants on 550 acres. The river barges are not the soundtrack, and a wedding on the grounds can be. We do not invent decibel scores.
If you want the river energy for one planned evening, stay at Contessa, Mokara, or Valencia and ask for a higher or courtyard room. If you want the boats as an outing and not as a bedroom, sleep at Hotel Emma or The St. Anthony and ride back. If you want neither, sleep at La Cantera and treat downtown as a day trip. Tell the hotel which side you want, and keep that note with the reservation. A phone request that never lands in the booking record is not a plan. Hotel Emma's 72 hour cancellation rule is a reason to make the request while the rate is still flexible.
Getting there, parking, and the bus
Parking is a hotel by hotel number, not a citywide one. Hotel Emma lists overnight valet at $50 plus tax and a 3.65 percent preservation charge on rooms, dining, and retail. Mokara lists overnight valet at $55 and day parking at $35. Omni La Mansión del Rio lists overnight valet at $55 and day parking at $39. Hotel Contessa lists valet at $53 plus tax with in and out, and day parking at $25 plus tax. Hotel Valencia lists a $22 destination fee and a $4.75 state cost recovery fee, and it does not print a valet number on the FAQ we read. The St. Anthony Marriott overview read on 24 Oct 2026 lists self parking at $60 a day and valet at $65 a day. A dining validation is a separate note, not that overnight rate. We do not publish a valet price for Kimpton Santo, Thompson, or Signia by Hilton La Cantera, because those pages did not give a figure we are willing to freeze here. A second car, a cabana, a spa treatment, and a late checkout can all sit outside the headline rate. Read the total on each official site. A car is useful for airport luggage, La Cantera, Alamo Heights, Brackenridge, and a late King William dinner. It is a burden on the river during Fiesta, when garages fill and the scenic block is not a place to circle.
VIA's fare page lists a regular bus at $1.30, express service at $2.60, a day pass at $2.75, and free transfers that last 2.5 hours from the time on the transfer. Reduced fares are half of several of those prices for riders who qualify, including children 5 to 13 and seniors 62 or older. The airport page's $1.30 downtown ride on route 5 matches the regular fare, and its day pass price matches VIA. Confirm both before you travel, because the airport page says fares can change. There is no streetcar on this map, and there is no downtown rail from the airport. For a city that does have a free streetcar between a plaza and an arena, compare Kansas City luxury hotels. For a Texas sibling with South Congress instead of a river, compare Austin luxury hotels and the Austin hub. For a mountain city where an airport train does reach a downtown station hotel, compare Denver luxury hotels. San Antonio can still work without a car if the sleep is on the River Walk, at Travis Park, or at Kimpton Santo and the outing is one neighborhood. Add a car when the plan needs La Cantera, the zoo, Alamo Heights, or a late King William dinner. From SAT, use the Terminal A rideshare curb or the Terminal B bus stop above, then go to the neighborhood that matches the arrival hour.
How to shape the weekend
A clean luxury weekend has one sleep neighborhood and one intentional outing off that map. Land, check the official room location, and do not schedule the River Walk, Pearl, King William, and La Cantera on the same arrival evening. If you sleep at Mokara, Contessa, Valencia, or La Mansión, walk the river and the Alamo, and pick one window for Pearl or for King William. If you sleep at Hotel Emma, give the brewhouse and the Museum Reach the first night, and ride to the Alamo in the morning. If you sleep at The St. Anthony, use Travis Park and the Majestic as the downtown evening, and ask about park events before you assume quiet. If you sleep at Kimpton Santo, let La Villita and one Southtown or Blue Star night be the plan. If you sleep at Thompson, keep the Tobin Center as the outing you already chose, and ask about the building before you assume every 2021 restaurant is open. La Cantera is its own weekend. Do not bolt it onto a one night Fiesta trip. There is no separate San Antonio where to stay guide or day plan on this site yet. This page is that guide. The closest day plan on the site is the Austin South Congress day plan, which is a different city. If the dates are still loose, read how pricing works before you treat a prepaid Fiesta rate as the careful choice. Questions about a listing can go through contact.

Pearl District, 136 East Grayson Street
The homepage describes 146 rooms in the former brewhouse on the Museum Reach. Supper, Larder, and Sternewirth are in the building. Ask for a quieter room if the social lobby is not the bedroom you wanted.
Vibe Culinary campus. Calmer than the downtown river bend, still social.
Best for Food and design stays when Pearl matters as much as the Alamo.

What to know before you book
River Walk, 150 East Houston Street
Design hotel with 213 rooms and suites, Naranja on the river, and Dorrego's for meals. The FAQ says there is no pool. A $22 destination fee and a $4.75 nightly state cost recovery fee sit on the rate. Check in is 4 p.m. You must be 21. Courtyard rooms look over the waterfall, not the boats.
Vibe Courtyard calm inside a lively river district.
Best for Couples who want downtown walking without a rooftop pool.
Official website
What to know before you book
Travis Park, 300 East Travis Street
Historic downtown hotel at 300 East Travis Street, with an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and suites the rooms page describes at about 924 to 1,200 square feet. Esencia and the St. Anthony Club are in the building. The Marriott overview read on 24 Oct 2026 lists self parking at $60 a day and valet at $65 a day, check in at 4 p.m., and check out at 11 a.m. A dining validation is not that overnight rate. Ask for a higher floor when Travis Park has an event.
Vibe Historic grandeur. Park in front, river a short walk away.
Best for Icon downtown stays when classic public rooms come first.

More Noravelle picks
These hotels fill neighborhoods the picks above do not cover. Each link is the hotel official website. We did not add property photos. The photograph at the top of the page shows the place named in its caption. It is not a picture of a hotel.
- Omni La Mansión del Rio, 112 College Street. Historic river hacienda with a courtyard pool and spa access at Mokara next door. The accommodations page says 338 rooms in the introduction and 332 in the FAQ. Check in is 4 p.m. Overnight valet is $55. You must be 18 to book. A larger river house than Hotel Emma, and still a building that can sell the courtyard rooms first.
- Thompson San Antonio, 115 Lexington Avenue. North River Walk lifestyle hotel. The hotel domain redirects to this Hyatt page. A 13 October 2026 sale announcement still described 162 rooms and said the new owner plans further investment. We did not find a closure notice. Ask whether restaurants or the rooftop will be open on your dates.
- Kimpton Santo San Antonio Riverwalk, 431 South Alamo Street. Lifestyle hotel between La Villita and Southtown, with a pool, Dean's, and Tenfold on the roof. White Lodging's 29 August 2024 opening note described 347 guest rooms, including 16 suites. The live site is the official page. Read the current parking total there.
- Signia by Hilton La Cantera Resort & Spa. Hill Country resort on the northwest edge. Hilton's 1 October 2025 release described 496 guest rooms, including 34 villas, five pools, Loma de Vida Spa, golf, and a shuttle to The Shops at La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The resort site redirects to this Hilton page. A car stay, not a river stroll.
Names that changed, and one house that is not a booking: Hotel Havana at 1015 Navarro Street is not open. KSAT reported on 18 September 2025 that the general manager said operations would cease on 20 October 2025. We did not find a reopening notice as of 14 October 2026. Do not book the old name. La Cantera is open as Signia by Hilton, not under a retired resort brand. Thompson changed owners on 13 October 2026 and the Hyatt page remains the official address we could verify. The Emily Morgan, a DoubleTree by Hilton at 705 East Houston Street, is open beside the Alamo and is not a luxury pick on this page. Also useful: the visitor bureau lodging list, Visit San Antonio places to stay (third party tourism site, not an endorsement of Noravelle).

Practical tips for a premium stay
- Fiesta, holiday river nights, and convention weeks tighten smaller hotels first. Hotel Emma describes 146 rooms. The October 2026 Thompson note described 162. Hotel Valencia describes 213. Hotel Contessa describes 265 suites. Hilton described 496 at La Cantera. Compare the quieter side early on the official hotel site.
- Valet, parking, taxes, destination or preservation charges, and pets change the total. Hotel Emma lists valet at $50 plus tax and a 3.65 percent preservation charge. Mokara lists overnight valet at $55. Contessa lists valet at $53 plus tax. La Mansión lists overnight valet at $55. Valencia lists a $22 destination fee. Read inclusions on the official hotel site. We do not invent live room prices.
- San Antonio summers are hot. A pool is practical in July and August at the hotels that describe one, including Mokara, Contessa, La Mansión, The St. Anthony, Kimpton Santo, and La Cantera. Hotel Valencia says it has no pool. Plan shade and a lighter first afternoon. If heat already limits your day, ask your own clinician before a long outdoor day. A December river night is a different plan. Prefer a flexible rate if a parade or a meeting you might miss could shift the trip.
- A River Walk, Pearl, Travis Park, or South Alamo stay can work with VIA buses and rideshare. Route 5 from the airport is the bus the airport page describes, about 30 minutes and $1.30, with frequency that varies. There is no downtown rail from SAT. Rideshare pickup is the outer commercial curb on the lower level of Terminal A. We do not publish live traffic times.
- Hotel Havana closed as a hotel on 20 October 2025, according to the general manager's statement reported by KSAT. La Cantera is open as Signia by Hilton. Thompson remains on its Hyatt page after the 13 October 2026 sale. Hotel Emma, Mokara, Hotel Valencia, The St. Anthony, and Hotel Contessa are open under those names. Confirm the current official site.
Next step checklist
- Decide the River Walk, the Pearl District, Travis Park, South Alamo, or La Cantera before you open suite photos. Use King William, Southtown, Brackenridge, and the airport as an outing or a flight night unless a specific hotel there is the point.
- Open the official website for one or two Noravelle picks.
- Read valet, parking, destination or preservation charges, pet fees, and the cancellation window on that hotel site.
- Request a higher floor or a room off the river, the park, and the rooftop if sleep is the priority, and plan shade plus a lighter midday if you are visiting in summer heat.
- Read how we pick luxury hotels and how pricing works, then compare Austin before you pay. The where to stay in Austin guide and the Austin weekend trip are the Texas pairing if the river is the wrong map. Holiday timing is on Thanksgiving 2026, Christmas travel 2026, and spring break 2027. Return to all hotel city guides if you are still choosing a city. Questions about a listing can go through contact.
What to know before you book
What are the best hotels in San Antonio?
The best hotels in San Antonio in 2026 start with the neighborhood. On the River Walk, open Mokara Hotel and Spa at 212 West Crockett Street, Hotel Contessa at 306 West Market Street, Hotel Valencia Riverwalk at 150 East Houston Street, or Omni La Mansion del Rio at 112 College Street. In the Pearl District, on the Museum Reach, open Hotel Emma at 136 East Grayson Street. Visit San Antonio places Pearl on the northern reach of the river and says the City Brewery was founded there in 1881. King William is a National Register district the City of San Antonio places between the river, Cesar Chavez Boulevard, South St. Mary's Street, and South Alamo Street. None of these picks use a King William side street. Kimpton Santo at 431 South Alamo Street is the closest base. Confirm fees on each official site.
Which neighborhood fits a San Antonio luxury stay?
River Walk hotels suit the Alamo, dinner on the water, and a downtown walk. Mokara Hotel and Spa at 212 West Crockett Street is the spa and rooftop pool pick. Hotel Contessa at 306 West Market Street is the all suite pick. Hotel Valencia Riverwalk at 150 East Houston Street is the courtyard and design pick, and the hotel says it has no pool. Omni La Mansion del Rio at 112 College Street is the historic hacienda on the same river, with spa access at neighboring Mokara. Thompson San Antonio at 115 Lexington Avenue is the North River Walk lifestyle hotel. Hotel Emma at 136 East Grayson Street suits the Pearl District and the Museum Reach, north of the downtown bend. The St. Anthony, a Luxury Collection Hotel, at 300 East Travis Street suits Travis Park and a grand downtown lobby. Kimpton Santo at 431 South Alamo Street suits La Villita and the walk toward Southtown. King William side streets, Blue Star, Monte Vista, Brackenridge Park, and Alamo Heights are real outings, and none of these picks use those addresses. Signia by Hilton La Cantera Resort and Spa is the Hill Country resort, a car ride from the river. Airport hotels beside San Antonio International Airport are logistics. Choose the neighborhood before you compare suite photos.
Should I choose the River Walk, the Pearl District, King William, or the Hill Country?
Choose the River Walk when the Alamo, a boat, and dinner on the water are the trip, and ask for a courtyard or a higher floor if sleep matters. Choose the Pearl District and Hotel Emma when food, the Museum Reach, and a northern downtown base matter more than river steps. Choose King William or Southtown as an evening from Kimpton Santo or from a downtown hotel, not as a missing inn on this list. Choose Signia by Hilton La Cantera when golf, a large spa, pools, and a Hill Country view are the point, and plan a car. The Emily Morgan, a DoubleTree by Hilton, sits beside the Alamo and is a different product from this luxury set. Confirm fees and cancellation on each official site.
How loud is the River Walk compared with the Pearl District?
The downtown River Walk can pick up restaurants, boats, and festival energy, especially during Fiesta and on holiday parade nights. Fiesta 2026 ran from 16 April through 26 April, with the Texas Cavaliers River Parade on 20 April, according to the Visit San Antonio release and the Fiesta commission. Hotel Valencia sells a Holiday River Parade package, so a lighted river night is a real booking event, and we do not publish next year's date. Pearl District stays often sleep calmer after dinner. Hotel Emma sits on the Museum Reach at 136 East Grayson Street, not on the densest downtown bend. Kimpton Santo is between La Villita and Southtown, so the block can be social without being the main river restaurants. The St. Anthony faces Travis Park, which hosted the opening of Fiesta 2026, so ask about park events. Signia by Hilton La Cantera is outside that noise map and can still be lively around its own pools and restaurants. We do not invent noise scores. Ask the hotel when you book.
What fees should I expect, and how should cancellation work?
Valet, destination or preservation charges, pet fees, and taxes can change the total. Hotel Emma lists overnight valet at $50 plus tax, day valet at $25, no valet for vehicles over 6 feet 8 inches, and a Historic Pearl Preservation Charge of 3.65 percent on rooms, dining, and retail. Check in is 3 p.m. Check out is noon. You must be 21 to book. A standard cancellation within 72 hours of arrival is charged the first night. Early departure is one night of room and tax. The pet cleaning fee is $250 plus tax for dogs, and a pet form is required. Mokara lists overnight valet at $55 and daily parking at $35, check in at 4 p.m., check out at 11 a.m., and a pet cleaning fee of $125 per stay per room for pets up to 50 pounds, limit two. Omni La Mansion del Rio lists overnight valet at $55 and daily parking at $39, check in at 4 p.m., check out at noon, a minimum booking age of 18, and a one time pet fee of $125 for up to two pets under 50 pounds. Hotel Contessa lists valet at $53 plus tax with in and out privileges, day parking at $25 plus tax, a dog fee of $125 per stay per dog with a 40 pound limit and no cats, and a daily destination fee whose dollar amount is not printed in the FAQ answer. The hotel is cashless. Hotel Valencia lists a state cost recovery fee of $4.75 per room per night and a destination fee of $22 per room per night, check in at 4 p.m., check out at noon, and a minimum age of 21. It does not publish a pet fee amount. We do not post invented nightly room rates. Fiesta, holiday river nights, and large conventions often tighten cancellation rules. If your dates sit near an event, prefer a more flexible rate even when that total is higher.
When should I book for Fiesta, holiday river events, and conventions?
Fiesta 2026 ran from 16 April through 26 April. The Visit San Antonio release of 30 January 2026 placed the opening in Travis Park on 16 April, the Texas Cavaliers River Parade on 20 April, and the King William Fair on 25 April. Those dates have passed. Confirm the next festival on fiestasanantonio.org before you treat mid April as a locked week. Hotel Valencia offers a Holiday River Parade package with parade tickets and valet, so a December river night can fill rooms that face the water. We do not publish the next parade date. The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is the downtown meeting campus The St. Anthony names as nearby. A citywide show tightens River Walk hotels. Hotel Emma's homepage describes 146 rooms. Hotel Valencia's rooms page describes 213 rooms and suites. Hotel Contessa describes 265 suites. Omni La Mansion del Rio's accommodations page says 338 rooms in the introduction and 332 rooms in the FAQ on that same page, so confirm the count before you compare inventory. White Lodging's 2024 opening note for Kimpton Santo described 347 guest rooms, including 16 suites. A 13 October 2026 sale announcement still described Thompson San Antonio as 162 rooms. Hilton's 1 October 2025 opening release for Signia by Hilton La Cantera described 496 guest rooms, including 34 villas. Smaller houses can sell out while the resort or a larger river hotel still shows inventory. Compare the room type you actually want on the official hotel site. Read the cancellation window before you pay. We do not invent nightly prices.
Do I need a car from SAT, or is the bus enough?
A River Walk, Pearl, Travis Park, or South Alamo stay can work with walking, VIA buses, and rideshare for the Alamo, a Pearl dinner, and one King William evening. There is no downtown rail from San Antonio International Airport. The airport rideshare page says approved services, including Uber and Lyft, meet passengers on the outer commercial curbside, lower level of Terminal A. The airport public transportation page says VIA route 5 boards at the far west end of Terminal B on the lower roadway and can reach downtown in about 30 minutes for $1.30, with frequency that varies. VIA's fare page lists a regular bus at $1.30, express service at $2.60, a day pass at $2.75, and free transfers valid for 2.5 hours. The airport page says schedules and fares can change, so confirm the line on viainfo.net. Mokara's page describes the airport as about 9 miles and about 20 minutes away, and it lists a taxi at about $23 one way. Omni La Mansion del Rio describes about 9 miles and about 15 minutes. Those are each hotel's planning note, and they do not match because they measure different doors and different hours. Hilton's opening release for Signia by Hilton La Cantera describes the airport as 15 miles away and a complimentary shuttle to The Shops at La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, not a downtown train. A car helps with airport luggage, La Cantera, Alamo Heights, and a late King William dinner, and it is a burden to park on the River Walk during Fiesta. We do not publish live traffic times. Book on the official hotel site when the hotel, room type, and cancellation terms already fit. Rate comparison networks on this site are not live yet.
Should I choose a River Walk hotel or a Hill Country resort?
Choose Mokara, Hotel Contessa, Hotel Valencia, or Omni La Mansion del Rio when you want to walk to the river and the Alamo. Choose Hotel Emma when the Pearl District is the day and the river bend is one outing. Choose The St. Anthony when Travis Park and a historic downtown hotel come first. Choose Kimpton Santo when La Villita, Hemisfair, and a walk toward Southtown matter more than a hacienda courtyard. Choose Thompson San Antonio when you want the North River Walk lifestyle hotel and you have asked whether an ownership change affects your dates. Choose Signia by Hilton La Cantera when the Hill Country, golf, pools, and Loma de Vida Spa are the trip, and you accept a car. The Emily Morgan beside the Alamo is a DoubleTree, not one of these picks. Public rooms at a river restaurant hotel can be lively. Ask which room faces the water, then confirm fees and cancellation on each official site.
What happened to Hotel Havana, and is Thompson San Antonio still open?
Hotel Havana is not a hotel you can book. KSAT reported on 18 September 2025 that the general manager said the 27 room hotel at 1015 Navarro Street would cease operations on 20 October 2025. We did not find a reopening notice as of 14 October 2026. Do not treat an old listing as a live stay. Thompson San Antonio is a different hotel, at 115 Lexington Avenue. The hotel's own domain redirects to its Hyatt page. A 13 October 2026 announcement from Sunrise Realty Trust said the company had sold the hotel to The Loren Group and that the buyer intends further investment. The announcement still described 162 rooms. We did not find a closure notice. Ask the hotel if work will affect your dates before you pay. Hotel Emma, Mokara, Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, The St. Anthony, Hotel Contessa, Omni La Mansion del Rio, Kimpton Santo, and Signia by Hilton La Cantera are open under those names. La Cantera joined Signia by Hilton on 1 October 2025. Confirm the current official site before you pay.
